The Crenshaw Christian Center ministry began over thirty years ago. Inspired by God to establish a non-denominational, non-sectarian, multi-racial church in the Los Angeles area, Dr. Frederick K.C. Price founded Crenshaw Christian Center on November 25, 1973, in the city of Inglewood, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. The church has had a storied success since its inception. Led by a man of impeccable integrity and commitment to the Word of God, it grew from a beginning of 300 members to a membership of more than 22,000. In 1981, the church purchased the then vacant 32-acre Pepperdine University Campus in the heart of Los Angeles. In 1986, construction began on the world-renowned 10,000-seat sanctuary, the FaithDome.
Ever-Increasing Faith Television was another groundbreaking venture, as Dr. Price was led by the Lord to televise his teaching ministry in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Detroit and Washington, D.C. (the program reaches more than 183 markets worldwide). For more than twenty-five years, New York has remained the number two market for the broadcast, second only to Los Angeles. Throughout this period, several television crusades were held in the New York area. It was due to this association with the audience of New York and the tri-state area that he was lead to fulfill a vision he had for many years to establish a church in Manhattan.
In May of 2001, Dr. Price conducted the first church service of Crenshaw Christian Center in New York City (CCC New York), with great expectation that the same success would be seen in New York as had been evidenced in California. Initially, services were held on Thursday nights, from July 2001 to February 2003, with Dr. Price traveling to New York each week. In 2003, he appointed one of his longtime assistants, Allen J. Landry, as Pastor of the East coast church, and CCC New York began regular Sunday morning services.
Dr. Price appointed David S. Sparks on August 7, 2005, as Pastor of Crenshaw Christian Center New York to build upon the foundation laid by Pastor Landry, who returned to the pastoral staff of Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles. After Pastor Sparks resigned on March 23, 2006, Dr. Price and Pastor Frederick K. Price, Jr., served as CCC New York Pastors during the next year.
On April 1, 2007, Dr. Price appointed Pastor Terry B. Starks as Pastor of CCC New York, and ordained Pastor Starks at the Fellowship of International Christian Word of Faith Ministries (FICWFM) on July 24, 2007.
Dr. Price was affirmed as Apostle Frederick K. C. Price on July 25, 2008, and on March 15, 2009, Frederick K. Price, Jr., was installed as Pastor of Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles.
Apostle Frederick K.C. Price assumed the role of Pastor after Pastor Starks resigned on July 18, 2010, until he appointed Pastor Jack E. Wilkins as Pastor of CCC New York from March 27, 2011, through December 30, 2012.
CCC New York continues to be under the spiritual leadership of Apostle Frederick K.C. Price.
Membership and Demographics
Membership has continued to grow, with over 1500 members at present. The church population is comprised primarily of families, but has a large number of single members. The number of young people attending has also grown, as the church youth fellowship continues to take a visible lead in ministering to, and fellowshipping with, teens.
Members come from all five boroughs of New York (Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island). In addition, a significant number come from Long Island, Westchester County, and upstate New York, as well as from the surrounding states of New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
